in exchange for cash in san francisco and oakland this weekend. the turnout for this gun buyback was unprecedented. people started lining up four hours before it began. the line stretched for blocks in east oakland. everyone was there to exchange their firearms. the deal was you get $200 cash for each working gun you turned in. for a lot of people, connecticut was very much on their minds. >> i think it just puts the whole gun violence in a different perspective. and basically makes everything real. >> getting some guns off the streets, grandkids or kids can't get these guns and kill somebody. >> just as cars were lining up for the buyback, ironically, gunfire hit four people a few blocks away at international and 85th at 7:30 yesterday morning. >>> there was also a long line in san francisco yesterday for a gun buyback. police worked with community groups to get the word out about their program. and so many people responded in san francisco that they ran out of money and had to give people iou's. >> the recent events have really spurred something that i've been thinking about fo

that warehouse was a marijuana growing operation. now about 20 officers from oakland's crime reduction unit this morning raided the warehouse on edge water drive near oakland airport. they bagged marijuana plants they is a produced 20 to 30 pounds of pot a month or 700 plants. police also recovered approximately $40,000 in cash and 2 starter pistols. police arrested two men, one of them 63 years old. late this afternoon, a long time marijuana activist came by. he says he is the one running the operation. and he says they shut off the power and he went inside and saw the stems of the plant had been cut. he was trying to do the right thing and thought he has the right permits to run an operation for medical marijuana but police say he did not have the right permits in place. now that man says he plans on failing out the two men that have been arrested and he plans to call his lawyer. reporting live in oakland, ktvu channel 2 news. >> bart is stepping up security for holiday travelers in san francisco and oakland. more police will be patrolling downtown stations. in oakland they'll team up wit

almost 30 cents from a month ago. in oakland -- fuel will cost you about 3-59, and in san jose, 3-57. while gas prices are going down. bart is considering charging riders more to park at it's lots. but before that happens, the transit agency wants your input. kron4's justine waldman has the story. >> when parking rates went up at the daly city bart station in 2010, from 2 to 3 dollars a day. people stopped parking there. so bart brought the price back down. now bart is considering raising the rates at all its parking lots, by charging more for spaces based on demand. a full lot would cost more, an empty lot less. >> "there is no way i am paying more" >> "everything costs more these days" >> the increase could be as little as 50-cents. bart did have a budget surplus this year, those extra dollars went to fixing seats and adding air conditioning on the trains. bart wants to use the extra parking money to maintain the lots. with renovations and affording security. >> "i was mugged once more security would be nice" topthe question is. will an increase in parking turn riders off. again
